Vapor Steam Cleaners
Identifying the Best Performing

Vapor steam cleaners might be just the solution for keeping your home clean. These high powered machines superheat water to create pressurized steam. The steam is then used to loosen grime and disinfect surfaces throughout your home.

While vapor steamers may look like handheld or upright vacuum cleaners, they are different in several respects. First of all, unlike a vacuum they do not suck of the dirt. You may need to wipe up or vacuum a surface after you have steam cleaned it. They also leave a fine layer of moisture when they are done working. This should evaporate in less than fifteen minutes, however.

Most people choose steam cleaners to disinfect their bathrooms or kitchens. They are also popular for use on hardwood or concrete floors. Some models can do an entire carpeted floor and most of them are able to spot clean carpets.

Some Recommended Vapor Steam Cleaners

McCulloch MC1275

This model looks like small canister vacuum. It has a hose and attachments that allow you to clean such varied household items as blinds, bedding, shower doors, and floors. The tank inside of the McCulloch is fifty ounces. This translates to one hour of cleaning time before it needs to be cooled down and refilled.

Consumers say that they like to use the McCulloch for their vapor steam cleaning because it is a chemical free process. However, this machine only works well for average jobs. Persistent stains might not be loosened by this model. Be prepared to not only steam clean, but also scrub with a rag to pick up all of the grime.

As a low end model, priced at approximately $100 dollars, the McCulloch vapor steam cleaner is able to handle medium duty jobs. It works best for occasional cleaning, but might not be durable enough to stand up to everyday use.

WhiteWing Steamer

On the high end of the consumer market for steam cleaners is the WhiteWing Steamer. It is approximately $450, but many consumers say that the price is worth it. This machine is durable and comes with many attachments. It is also one of the most powerful consumer machines on the market.

The steam of the WhiteWing is heated to 285 degrees, hotter than most other models. This means that the steam is dryer, disinfects faster, and evaporates faster. It also comes with built in safety features to help you avoid burning yourself. It has an automatic shut off valve.

The WhiteWing vapor steam cleaner does not come with a double tank. You need to let it cool before refilling it. However, it does have a 67 ounce tank that can last up to two hours. It also has over twenty different cleaning attachments.

SteamFast SF227

This model is a handheld steam cleaner. For the most part consumers say that these machines are more trouble than they are worth. This model is not recommended unless you are adamantly against cleaning with chemicals.

The tank of the SteamFast is only ten ounces and therefore you can use it for only fifteen minutes before you need to let it cool. The water heats to just above 212 degrees and provides a wet steam. It has a long nozzle that can find into many tight spaces, even spaces that are too small for a sponge or a hand.

The price of the SteamFast is only around $40. Since consumers say it can only handle small, light cleaning jobs, this cheap price might not translate to a good value.

A Vapor Steam Cleaner in Your Home

Having a vapor steam cleaner in your home can be a good way to clean without chemicals. Purchase a model with a large tank and many attachments so that it can be as versatile as possible. Know that while you can do some cleaning jobs with your steam cleaner, it cannot completely replace either your vacuum cleaner or your elbow grease.
